Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease begins with bacterial growth on the teeth. This bacteria leads to build-up (calculus/tartar) on the teeth resulting in inflammation, bleeding gums and bone loss. If left untreated, periodontal disease can lead to the loss of teeth. To make this procedure more comfortable, the teeth and gums may be numbed. The second step is to rebuild the lost bone structure. Patients with periodontal disease require more frequent dental cleanings to ensure the long-term health of their teeth.
