Dr. Supowitz is a preferred choice of dentists and their family members when they seek restorative, aesthetic or implant dentistry. Gentle and patient-friendly, Dr. Supowitz takes pride in his work as a creative art and his patients learn to respect his artistry and precision. They know he is committed to obtaining the best results for them and while he never raises expectations, he often far exceeds what his patients thought to be possible.

Dr. Supowitz’s clinical gifts were recognized early in his training in dental medicine. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine where he received the coveted award of the dental student who best exemplifies “Outstanding Clinical Proficiency”.

He then went on for specialty training at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, one of the finest centers of prosthodontic training in the country. At Indiana, Dr. Supowitz earned both a certificate in prosthodontics and a Master of the Science of Dentistry in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. Dr. Supowitz was singled out by his professors as a person qualified to join them as an Assistant Professor on the faculty. He served as a faculty member for a year and received the award of “Outstanding Instructor of the Year”.

Dr. Supowitz returned to Pittsburgh to enter private practice. For the first eight years of his Pittsburgh practice, he also served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. During this time, he was recognized with a second major teaching award as “Outstanding Educator of the Year”. In 2007, he was invited to rejoin the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh so that a new generation of dental students could benefit from his clinical knowledge and skills. In 2010 Dr. Supowitz returned to  full-time private practice upon the relocation of his practice to his current state-of-the-art dental facility in Shadyside.

Dr. Supowitz has contributed new knowledge to his field. His research has been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Journal of Dental Research.

He has remained active in numerous professional organizations. He has addressed the International Association of Dental Research, presented numerous continuing education courses on behalf of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, the Seattle Study Club, and other state and local dental organizations.

Allyson M. Supowitz DDS, MS

Dr Allyson SuppowitzDr. Allyson Supowitz is a board-certified periodontist and implant surgeon. A Pittsburgh native, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She pursued her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of

Dentistry. While in Iowa, she won awards for clinical and research excellence from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the American Academy of Periodontology.

Following dental school, she obtained further education and received her certificate in Periodontics and Master of Science degrees at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, NY. During her time in Rochester, Dr. Supowitz focused her research

on immediate implant placement in the esthetic zone to enhance treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction. She was also selected to teach general dentists on basic periodontal and implant surgical techniques.

Dr. Supowitz maintains memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, International Team for Implantology, International Association for Dental Specialists, and other local dental societies. A leader in her field, she has been invited to speak at both local and national dental conferences regarding her specialty of periodontics. She is also currently an adjunct faculty member in the Periodontology department at the University of Rochester.
